In a blow to Democrats, Texas Governor Greg Abbott lifted his state’s coronavirus restrictions and mask orders on Tuesday, a welcome relief for residents.

Gov. Abbott held a press conference on Tuesday where he delivered the news that Texans would no longer be required to wear face diapers and that businesses would be allowed to open at 100 percent capacity.

The announcement was accompanied by the governor’s issuing of an executive order and statement that noted: “With the medical advancements of vaccines and antibody therapeutic drugs, Texas now has the tools to protect Texans from the virus.”

While Lone Star State residents rejoiced, Democrats fumed and one of Abbott’s fellow governors, Gavin Newsom of California decried the reinstatement of freedom as “absolutely reckless.”

Newsom, whose own state’s response to COVID has been among the worst in the nation and a perfect example of how lockdowns don’t work was quickly roasted alive on Twitter.

Much of the blowback from Newsom’s remarks focused on his partying at an expensive Napa Valley eatery last year at a time when Californians were restricted from dining under one of the governor’s own executive decrees.

Like New York’s Andrew Cuomo, Newsom was also the darling of a dishonest media that held him up as an example of great leadership during an unprecedented national health crisis until he was undone by his own monumental hypocrisy.

It’s been all downhill for Newsom ever since that fateful evening at The French Laundry that laid bare the callous indifference to the suffering of ordinary people by Democrat political elites.

Newsom is now facing a recall that continues to gain momentum with it headed for the ballot later this year in what will be a referendum on his handling of the coronavirus response.

Californians have little chance to be free like Texans until they are able to rid themselves of Newsom once and for all.
