Is the United States nearing a peaceful divorce between its own cities and states…or has it already broken apart?
American sociologist and historian Seymor Lipset wrote that great nations don’t die, but that “they commit national suicide.” That begs the question, is the United States committing national suicide? Some seem to think it is.
On one side you have political commentators like Tim Pool arguing that the US has been splitting apart ideologically for quite some time now. The split has become more and more evident with the red state defiance of the Biden administration Covid-19 restrictions. The blue states seem to be falling neatly in line with Biden’s restrictions, while the red states are simply ignoring them (most red states at least). How can you have a country where half of the States trust and follow the President, and the other half doesn’t? A country where the President only represents the interests of the blue states.
The dichotomy has been going on for a long time, as Tim Pool suggests in his podcast.
There are fears among the population that perhaps the tension of the nation will result in a violent civil war, but what if we are already in a war? What if this is a cultural cold civil war? An informational war. One side of the nation lives on a completely different reality than the other one. How does a nation come together when it is so deeply divided in culture and belief systems? Other than borders (which seem to be open lately), what is it that unites Americans these days?
It’s not only ideological differences that are causing the tensions within American soil, but for decades, the country has been importing millions of people which were incompatible to its foundations. This was never meant to be the case for the stability of the nation.
One hundred years ago, President Teddy Roosevelt said that “the one absolute certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of it continuing as a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities.”
And if it isn’t obvious yet to anyone, multiculturalism has allowed it to become exactly that; a tangle of squabbling nationalities, religions, cultures, peoples, and racial groups. James Walsh, the former Associate General Counsel of the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service, said that “immigrants devoted to their own cultures and religions are not influenced by the secular politically correct façade that dominates academia, news media, entertainment, education, religious, and political thinking today.”
He then added that immigrants “claim the right not to assimilate, and the day is coming when the question will be how can the United States regulate the defiantly unassimilated cultures, religions and mores of foreign lands? Such immigrants say that their traditions trump the US legal system. Balkanization of the United States has begun.”
While Trump was President, different politicians openly said statements which in the past would be considered treasonous, but because of the divisive nature of US politics today, they were given a pass. As an example, Missouri State Senator Maria Chappelle said she hoped Trump was assassinated. The statement clearly constitutes an act of treason, but she is a “minority,” and as such, she was given a pass. Another example is Denver Councilwoman Candi CdeBaca, who said that if she were to get coronavirus, she was going to attend as many MAGA rallies as she could. In other words, she would deliberately try to put people who not hold her political views in risk of death. CdeBaca is also a minority, therefore she also enjoys immunity.
One of the most obvious examples of the multicultural fragmentation is House member Ilhan Omar, a Somalian immigrant who most likely only got elected because politicians in the 70s targeted Minnesota, a large white state with deeply rooted Swedish culture, and sent thousands upon thousands of Somalian refugees to live amongst them. An obvious cultural conflict. The result was the election of the Somalian House member, a democrat and devout Muslim intent on installing Sharia Law in her adoptive country. She said “I want all Muslims in America to make all Americans uncomfortable.” Imagine fleeing from a failed nation, intent on bringing the failed culture to the country which welcomed you.
How did this even start? How did the US get to a point in time where it thought it would be a good idea to open up the nation to incompatible ideals? Well, of course, it was in the 60s. The decade of the hippie movement, the flower-power, sexual liberation, and civil rights movement. Of course, they had to pass an immigration act which would essentially become an open-door policy which said “everyone and anyone is welcome.” The propaganda of the melting pot was staggering.
In 1965, Senator Ted Kennedy, introduced and passed the Immigration Reform Act which countered Roosevelt’s wisdom long before. Prior to 1965, the US immigrated and assimilated 175 thousand people per year from compatible nations. These immigrants met the criteria of religion, culture, and lifestyle similarities with the United States. However, after 1965, those similarities were no longer required, and the US started absorbing over 1 million people annually, legally, from the four corners of the world. This included people who only knew ethnic-strife-ridden countries and religions which were totally at odds with the American way of life. Teddy Kennedy called his immigration bill the gift of diversity and multiculturalism.
Of course the issue goes beyond legal and illegal immigration. Mexican illegal immigrants that border 20 million within the country, directly or indirectly work to recapture the border states back to Mexico. Millions of white Americans have been indoctrinated to hate their own people, black Americans are given free rein to openly insult the white population, the Democratic Party has blocked COVID-19 relief for white farmers, only to give the relief to other races, and we have Muslims working to have this nation become an Islamic state. It seems that if the US does not correct course, and fast, the nation is only hanging on by a thread.
Now, the US finds itself being balkanized to death, for ideological, cultural, racial, and religious differences.
