Matt Gaetz Rips Democrats Over Impeachment Hearings

During an interview on Monday with Fox News host Tucker Carlson, Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz shredded House Democrats, saying that their impeachment hearing was just a bunch of Democratic donors asking each other questions.
The comments came after Carlson played a clip of Gaetz in a heated exchange with House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler.
“Not allowed to make rational points on The Hill,” Carlson said while laughing. “Congressman Matt Gaetz of Florida joins us. Looks like you cleared up that implication.”
“I may not be on Jerry Nadler’s Christmas card list anymore,” Gaetz said. “You know, where I’m from, you stand behind your work. If Adam Schiff really believes the president should be impeached as a result of his conduct, he ought to show up and take our questions based on his bias, his contact with the whistle-blower, and anything he was doing outside the bounds of the law.”
“Instead, it was take your donor to work today in the House Judiciary Committee, where some of the left’s big donors were able to come in and literally ask each other questions,” Gaetz added. “It was this dystopian reality where I’m watching one Democrat donor ask questions of another Democrat donor about issues that we could all read about but they just want to give their hot takes.”
Even during the hearing, Gaetz called the Democrats out saying, “Do you think if you had given more money to Democrats you might have been able to ask questions and answer them like Mr. Berke did?”

Gaetz went nuclear during the impeachment hearing on Monday, specifically on House Democrats' counsel Daniel Goldman.
“Are you a partisan?” Gaetz asked Goldman. “I’m not a partisan,” Goldman replied. The Republican representative continued by pressing him on his political donations.
“I do, sir. I think it’s very important,” Goldman started before Gaetz cut him off. “Matter of fact, you’ve given tens of thousands of dollars to Democrats, right?”
Gaetz continued to hammer Goldman by bringing up one of his previous tweets where he claimed that “nothing in the dossier is proven false,” even though almost everything in the dossier had proven to be false.
“But the dossier said there was a Russian consulate in Miami, when there isn’t. The dossier said that Michael Cohen had a meeting in Prague when he didn’t. The dossier said that Michael Cohen’s wife was Russian, she’s, in fact, Ukrainian. And so, as we sit here today, where you I guess got a tweet mentioning a pee tape, presenting yourself not as a partisan, hired by the Democrats to pursue the president, do you regret this tweet?” Gaetz questioned.
Goldman refused to answer the question.
