NBC and MSNBC News correspondent Jacob Soboroff went so far as to blame the current migrant crisis along the border on “climate change” and “climate variability,” among other things, during an interview on Monday’s “The View.”

Co-host Ana Navarro noted that many people are blaming Joe Biden’s border policies, which are essentially the polar opposite of President Trump’s tough enforcement measures, before noting that in recent days the president and his Department of Homeland Security chief Alejandro Mayorkas have increased calls for migrants not to come to the U.S. and asking Soboroff to respond.

“It doesn’t matter what any president says. Migrants who are fleeing desperation are gonna come to the United States,” he began.

“President Trump, after the separation policy — which was defined as ‘torture’ by Physicians for Human Rights, there is no stronger message than, ‘We’re gonna separate you from your family on purpose,’ to scare people away,” Soboroff continued, claiming that more people were flocking to the U.S. border in 2019 than are coming today (this is false, as Biden’s own DHS secretary, Mayorkas, says the current surges are “historic” and “unprecedented).

“What really pushes people here is violence, and persecution, and corruption in their home countries, and as I’ve seen with my own eyes malnutrition, and starvation, and extreme poverty,” the correspondent and author of “Separated: Inside an American Tragedy,” continued.

All of those conditions, Soboroff further claimed, are often “exacerbated by the effects of climate change and climate variability.”

“And so, I hear the criticisms that the Biden administration isn’t sounding tough enough, but a tough message from President Obama who said, ‘Don’t come,’ didn’t stop people from coming, the toughest message ever from President Trump didn’t stop people from coming, and now President Biden is learning that same thing,” Soboroff added.

But his rationale that there was little difference between the Obama and Biden administrations in terms of policies is flat-out wrong. Yes, Obama deported so many migrants he became known in illegal immigrant smuggling circles as the “Deporter-in-Chief,” but it was Trump’s enforcement policies that wound up dramatically reducing the illegal migrant influx to the U.S.

In an interview Sunday with Fox News host Mark Levin, former acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement chief Tom Homan made that clear, offering wide praise for Trump and scathing disdain for the Biden regime.

“The Biden administration is still trying to blame President Trump for what’s going on the border right now. They’re ignoring the fact that — I don’t care if you love President Trump or hate him — you cannot deny the fact that he gave us the most secure border in my career, which is almost thirty-five years,” Home told Levin.

“I started in 1984 as a Border Patrol agent,” Homan continued. “I spent my entire career on border enforcement, immigration enforcement, and President Trump got it right. He had unprecedented success on that border.”

He further explained that during Obama’s second term, when Biden was VP and current Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was the deputy DHS secretary, “we built detention facilities, thousands of them. We held people long enough to see a judge. We let ICE remove them and we took away the enticements.”

Now, however, “Joe Biden has sold out this country to the progressive left to win an election,” Homan said. “He’s a different person … Alejandro Mayorkas is a different person.”

Regarding the current border crisis, “This isn’t incompetence. This is by design. This is an open borders agenda that we all knew was coming,” Homan added.
