On Tuesday during his State of the Union speech, President Donald Trump rewarded conservative radio show host Rush Limbaugh with the Medal of Freedom.

On Monday morning, Limbaugh broke the devastating news that he had been diagnosed with "advanced lung cancer" and that he will be missing his shows for treatments.

"Rush Limbaugh just announced on his radio program he has been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer. Says there will be days he won't be able to be there due to treatment..." tweeted Joe Concha.

Despite the tragic news, far-left CNN reporter Jim Acosta decided to hammer President Trump and Limbaugh by claiming that awarding the conservative radio host with the Medal of Freedom was insulting to African-Americans because he had a “history of making derogatory comments about African-Americans.”

There is no evidence to back up Acosta's claim.

"Yes, the president had some heartwarming moments during this speech, but he was also engaging in some deeply divisive rhetoric aimed at immigrants, aimed at Latinos," Acosta falsely claimed. "And while, yes, he was trying to make appeals to the African-American community, it can’t be forgotten he was awarding the Medal of Freedom to Rush Limbaugh, who has a history of making derogatory comments about African-Americans. And so I think, you know, overall it’s a wash."

Despite his outlandish claims, Acosta did not elaborate on any of his statements.

James Golden, also known as Bo Snerdley, who is Limbaugh's long-time friend and producer took to Twitter to hammer Acosta. Golden is African-American himself.

"I just saw the footage from CNN's Jim Acosta saying Rush has a "history" of saying disparaging things about African Americans. I have been in the studio with Rush for 30 years. I would like to formally challenge CNN and @Acosta to provide the list," he tweeted.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham also made sure to hammer Acosta for his outlandish comments.

“Jim Acosta is disgusting. That is a disgusting comment. It’s a disgusting comment and false," Ingraham said.

“Every time they lose they cry racism. Every time they lose they say you’re a mean horrbile xenophobe. It’s insult after insult. What they accuse Trump of… it’s what they do routinely,” she added.

While Acosta decided to hammer the President for his address, anti-Trump CNN contributor Ana Navarro shockingly praised President Trump for his speech.

"Trump brought his TV producer experience to SOTU. At times, it felt like an Oprah show. 'You get a scholarship! You get a Medal of Freedom! Surprise! Your dad’s here!'" she said on Twitter. "Like him or not -I don’t- the human stories tugged the heartstrings, were emotional, poignant American moments."
