Conservatives know they don’t have many friends and allies in Hollywood or the entertainment industry in general – at least, not many who are willing to stand up and proudly declare their allegiance to right thinkers.

The few who have – like actor James Woods and actress Kristy Swanson – watched their careers evaporate because the ‘tolerant’ Leftists who run studios and own movie production companies really aren’t tolerant of conservatives’ views (or those of anyone else with whom they disagree).

So, it was surprising – shocking, really – to fans of Rob Lowe to hear that one of his friends is a conservative Supreme Court legend: Justice Clarence Thomas.

And when Lowe make the stunning admission on Conan O’Brien’s podcast, the host even did a double take.

“Are you guys really close?” O’Brien asked.

The “West Wing” and “9-1-1: Lone Star” actor, noticing the host’s stunned look, responded, “See. Look at those eyes. That eye vein popped…. But he’s a guy [Thomas], people go, ‘You know him?'”

Still stunned, O’Brien asked, “Wait, you know him?”

“I do know him,” Lowe explained. “I got inducted into the Horatio Alger Society a couple years ago…. It’s a very exclusive, very amazing society that provides scholarships for kids who come to terrible, terrible backgrounds. But they are the best and the brightest in their classes. And the people in it are pretty studly. He’s one of them. That’s how we met. They put the medal on me in the halls of the Supreme Court.”

“Wow,” O’Brien said.

Lowe then described what a nice person Thomas is and how the justice even helped out the actor’s son.

“The reason I bring it up is he’s one of those people who occupies such a perception in people’s minds and he’s like, ‘If you ever need anything, call my number. This is my cell phone.’ And then my son Matthew was going to law school,” said Lowe.

“So, I had some ideas about clerking and things like that. So, I call this cell phone and he answers it. And you’re like, ‘Geeze. Shouldn’t there be, like, a vetting process?’ And 45 minutes he’s giving me advice on what my son should do vis-a-vis law school and clerking.”

“You’re kidding,” O’Brien said.

It’s not as if Lowe hasn’t had some ‘right-leaning’ expressions in the past. In 2015, for instance, he criticized then-President Barack Obama for failing to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but instead taking the time to talk to YouTube stars.

“Hold up. Is it true that a woman who eats cereal out of a bathtub gets to meet with the President and the Prime Minister of Isreal [sic] does not?” Lowe tweeted in January of that year.

He then tweeted a picture of sorta-celebrity GloZell eating Fruit Loops in a tub, adding, “For those who aren’t up to speed, here is the woman who had an official meeting with POTUS yesterday.”

In August 2014, he wrote, “Waiting to hear POTUS explain the disaster the world has become.”

In November 2014, discussing his role in the then-upcoming film “Killing Kennedy,” based on a book by Bill O’Reilly, Lowe said, “Kennedy’s ‘Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country’…today I think that’s – our discussion is the inverse. People are asking, ‘What can our government do for us?’”
