The top law enforcement official in Texas has made it crystal clear to the Biden administration he’s not about to tolerate any attempt by the White House and the thin Democratic congressional majority to infringe on the right to keep and bear arms.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was responding to President Joe Biden’s statement on Sunday — the third anniversary of the horrific Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School shootings in Parkland, Fla. — in which he said his administration isn’t going to sit around waiting for another incident like that to happen, that it will proactively move to ban certain classes of firearms and implement other measures like registration, licensing, and universal background checks.

“The Parkland shooting 3 years ago was an act of unspeakable evil,” Paxton wrote in a tweet late Sunday. “But Democrats cannot be allowed to use this tragedy as an opportunity to cram down unhelpful and unconstitutional gun laws. Biden won’t undo the #2A in TX on my watch.”

Paxton tweet-quoted a statement from the White House, which says, in part:
Three years ago today, a lone gunman took the lives of 14 students and three educators at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. In seconds, the lives of dozens of families, and the life of an American community, were changed forever.
For three years now, the Parkland families have spent birthdays and holidays without their loved ones. They’ve missed out on the experience of sending their children off to college or seeing them on their first job after high school. Like far too many families, they’ve had to bury pieces of their soul deep within the Earth. Like far too many families — and, indeed, like our nation — they’ve been left to wonder whether things would ever be okay. …
And in this season of so much loss, last year’s historic increase in homicides across America, including the gun violence disproportionately devastating Black and Brown individuals in our cities, has added to the number of empty seats at our kitchen tables. Today, as we mourn with the Parkland community, we mourn for all who have lost loved ones to gun violence. …
This Administration will not wait for the next mass shooting to heed that call. We will take action to end our epidemic of gun violence and make our schools and communities safer. Today, I am calling on Congress to enact commonsense gun law reforms, including requiring background checks on all gun sales, banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and eliminating immunity for gun manufacturers who knowingly put weapons of war on our streets. We owe it to all those we’ve lost and to all those left behind to grieve to make a change. The time to act is now.
Regarding the text in bold above, this is disingenuous, and purposely so: Homicides have gone up because left-wing, George Soros-backed prosecutors have refused to uphold state and local laws, especially those related to all the riots. And as police, instead, were repeatedly targeted by some of these same prosecutors, it’s no wonder cities are becoming less safe.

And now, here comes another Democratic administration using Democrat-caused crime spikes to push for new gun control measures.
Where have we seen this before? Oh, right — during the Obama administration, when Biden was the VP. Obama’s Justice Department ran guns into Mexico (“Operation Fast and Furious”) ostensibly to “track them” to cartel. But the real reason was to use the expected increase in homicides to push for new gun control such as (wait for it) bans on ‘assault weapons,’ the very guns Obama was allowing to be trafficked into Mexico.
Paxton has heard this song and dance before. So have we.
