'Troubling' NYPD Exodus Continues as Dept. Sees 87% Spike in Retirement Filings Over 2019

Left-wing counter-revolutionary groups like Black Lives Matter and Antifa have been busting up cities for months, long ago having hijacked the truly horrible incident involving George Floyd in Minneapolis in late May for their own selfish political purposes.
And worse, the cowardly and/or like-minded Democrats who run those cities have pretty much given the Che Guevara wannabes free rein. In places where Democrat mayors and governors are trying to keep a lid on the lawlessness, George Soros bought-and-paid-for ‘prosecutors’ are refusing to do the jobs the people elected them to do: Prosecute the lawbreakers busting up their cities.
Worse, the level of vitriol and animosity being directed at police officers is historic. BLM/Antifa ‘defund police’ movements even four years ago would have been met with widespread derision and dismissal. But today, this idiotic policy mindset has metastasized in deep-blue cities around the country.
Perhaps nowhere is the transition from pro-cop to anti-cop more profound than in New York City.
Two decades ago, NYPD (and FDNY) personnel were hailed as selfless, self-sacrificing heroes immediately following the 9/11 attacks. While the city – and the country – panicked as hijacked planes smashed into the World Trade Center twin towers, as survivors stormed out, NYPD and firefighters rushed in, only to be killed when the towers collapsed.
The anti-police fervor ramped up in the wake of the Floyd incident, but it’s been building for years – ever since a guy by the name of Bill de Blasio became mayor. Between him and the leftists who inhabit City Hall, the NYPD has been humiliated, defanged, defunded, and left to its own devices on the street.
And now, finally, officers – many from ‘cop families’ that span generations – are getting out as fast as they can.
So, ‘defunding’ police may not need to happen; soon, there may only be a skeleton NYPD and won’t that be fun in the country’s largest city?
The New York Police Department – said to be the largest police force in the nation – is in the grip of a "troubling" shakeup, as retirements and resignations continue to mount, officials said.
Union officials and others say the exodus is being fueled in part by pressure by racial justice advocates to defund police departments or impose major reforms.
The NYPD said in an email to Fox News this week that 2,385 officers have submitted their retirement papers this year as of Oct. 6 – an 87% increase from the 1,274 retirements reported during the same period in 2019.
The department said 372 others have resigned as of Oct. 6, five more than last year.
"This is what happens when elected officials play political games with police department operations," said Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch. "City Hall’s amateur-hour meddling has left the NYPD broken, almost beyond repair."
Massive police departures are not just occurring in New York, notes ‘Brady White,’ the fictious name of a current actively working police officer of a major city, who wrote about it at PJ Media on Friday.
There is a mass exodus in law enforcement. Nationwide.
Read that again. Let it sink in.
Let me explain.
COVID-19, civil unrest, the loss of qualified immunity like in Colorado, fear of a civil suit for doing your job within policy ruining not only your finances, but the financial future of your family (see: Atlanta and their corrupt DA). Some cops have had it, and I honestly can’t blame them.
A civil society cannot remain civil without law enforcers, it’s just as simple as that. But here’s the reality: The Soros forces behind the war on our police don’t want civility, they want chaos – because that is how revolutions or, in this case counter-revolutions, must have to usher in a new form of government – one that few Americans will like.
