In the past few months, the US has been engaged in a strategy to weaken foreign unfriendly regimes, and so far, the US seems to be getting ahead without much military action.

Various intelligence agencies revealed that Tehran was responsible for financing attacks by the Taliban against the United States. The group responsible for these attacks: the Haqqani Network.

The organization, led by a senior Taliban member, was responsible for the attack on an important US airbase in Bagram. The attack carried out on December 11th 2019 killed two civilian casualties and injured 70 people, including four Americans. Panam Post reports that the payments found were linked to six attacks carried out during 2019 by the same Haqqani group.

The airbase that was attacked by the Taliban is considered one of the most important airbases in Afghanistan.

Panam Post writes:

“…the attack was extremely sophisticated and detected some blind spots in the American defenses that were surprising. In fact, U.S. officials in Afghanistan were shocked…According to the account of events, approximately ten Taliban fighters clashed with local security forces after the explosion, and the insurgents were killed in an airstrike by the United States. The rest of the attacks by the Taliban were not mentioned.”

The work that US agencies have been doing to weaken the Taliban has been mostly quiet at the media level.

The work that the Trump administration has been doing seems to be effective, causing the Iranian regime to lose strength, and Tehran to be stifled.

One of the ways the United States has put pressure on Iran is through its pressures on ties to Venezuela. A few days ago, the US seized 4 ships from Iran headed to Venezuela with 1.1 million oil barrels. With this move the US has managed to put pressure on two problematic governments: the Iranian regime and the Venezuelan regime.

This operation has only required some monitoring and not much military enforcement.
