House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the rest of her Democrat cult are continuing to politically hijack the Black Lives Matter movement to push their own radical Leftist agenda.

On Thursday, the aged California Democrat – without consultation with House members or anyone else – ordered the removal of portraits in the U.S. Capitol of previous speakers who went on to serve in the Confederacy, ostensibly so that members could “appropriately observe Juneteenth” on Friday.

Juneteenth is the first historical reference to the day all slaves were emancipated in the United States.

Pelosi, who has been a fixture in Congress since the 1990s, also claimed that she just happened to have stumbled upon the portraits while taking inventory of Confederate statues in the Capitol.

She also wants to remove other Confederate portraits and statues, but she doesn’t have the authority to act like a queen in removing them; she needs permission from the Joint Committee on the Library.

“The halls of Congress are the very heart of our democracy. The statues in the Capitol should embody our highest ideals as Americans, expressing who we are and who we aspire to be as a nation,” she said last week in a letter to Chairman Roy Blunt, R-Mo., and Vice Chair Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif.

“Tomorrow, Juneteenth, the clerk will oversee the removal of those Confederate speakers from the House,” Pelosi announced at a press conference at the Capitol Thursday. “There’s no room in the hallowed halls of this democracy, this temple of democracy, to memorialize people who embody violent bigotry and grotesque racism of the Confederacy.”

America isn’t a mob-rule democracy, thank goodness, it’s a representative republic. Only, most Americans aren’t getting much representation from the House these days because of Pelosi’s tyrannical rule.

In a letter to House Clerk Cheryl Johnson, Pelosi requested the removal of four previous speakers in ‘honor’ of Juneteenth, which falls on June 19.

“To appropriately observe Juneteenth this year, I write today to request the immediate removal of the portraits in the U.S. Capitol of four previous Speakers who served in the Confederacy: Robert Hunter of Virginia (1839-1841), Howell Cobb of Georgia (1849-1851), James Orr of South Carolina (1857-1859), and Charles Crisp of Georgia (1891-1895),” Pelosi wrote.

“The portraits of these men are symbols that set back our nation’s work to confront and combat bigotry,” she added.

Pelosi began her anti-historical crusade during her first term as Speaker but it was much more limited. She had a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee moved to the crypt of the Capitol Building.

But let’s be clear here: What she’s doing today is nothing short of political opportunism and theatrics. She was Speaker during the first two years of Barack Obama’s presidency, when Democrats controlled the House, the Senate, and the White House.

Why didn’t she move all of this stuff then? Why didn’t she remove statutes of people who “embody violent bigotry” when the first African-American was president?

We know why. Because deep down, Pelosi – like most all Democrats – uses black people as a voting bloc, nothing more. If her anti-Confederate bona fides and convictions were so strong, she should have done away with these statues and portraits a decade ago when her and Barack ruled the roost.
