The Christian community often prays for victims of gun violence, and now Chuck Schumer is openly mocking them.

Right before the Democrats took an axe to our constitutional rights to bear arms, the far-left Senator proudly stated “No more thoughts and prayers”.

“No more hopes and prayers, thoughts and prayers — a vote is what we need. NOT thoughts and prayers.” Schumer said with pride.

Watch Schumer’s remarks below:

After Schumer made these remarks, Democrats passed a House bill that made it harder for law-abiding citizens to defend their family with firearms. Soon after, Dianne Feinstein announced a new push that entails sweeping gun grabs.

Feinstein and her left-wing colleagues somehow believe they’ll be able to stop gun violence if they punish those who actually follow the law. This is akin to banning cars from only good drivers. Makes zero sense.

Here’s part of their statement below:

“It’s been 17 years since the original Assault Weapons Ban expired, and the plague of gun violence continues to grow in this country,” said Feinstein on Thursday. “To be clear, this bill saves lives. When it was in place from 1994-2004, gun massacres declined by 37 percent compared with the decade before. After the ban expired, the number of massacres rose by 183 percent. We’re now seeing a rise in domestic terrorism, and military-style assault weapons are increasingly becoming the guns of choice for these dangerous groups. I’m hopeful that with the new administration and Democratic control of the Senate, we can finally pass commonsense gun reforms to remove these deadly weapons from our communities.”

Then, Feinstein turned her focus to sweeping gun bans.

Assault weapons are designed for a single purpose – to kill as many people as possible in as short an amount of time as possible. That’s why they are the weapon of choice for mass shooters and domestic terrorists. They are weapons of war and do not belong in our communities,” added Congressman Cicilline in the joint statement. “Banning these weapons will make our cities and towns safer and more secure and help to reduce gun deaths.”

“Military-style assault rifles were designed to kill as many people as quickly as possible. Period. There is no reason why these weapons should be sold to the public. President Biden ran on passing commonsense legislation to end the gun violence epidemic. The data is clear: an assault weapons ban will save lives. I’m proud to join Senator Feinstein in reintroducing this critical legislation,” said Senator Murphy.

“What do Las Vegas, Orlando, Newtown, Sutherland Springs, El Paso, and Parkland all have in common? These communities are a tragic shorthand for some of the deadliest mass shootings in our nation’s history, all of which involved an assault weapon,” added Senator Blumenthal. “Assault weapons and high-capacity magazines are deadly and dangerous weapons of war that belong on battlefields—not our streets. They have no purpose for self-defense or hunting, and no business being in our schools, churches and malls. By passing this legislation, Congress can honor the memory of the beautiful lives cut short by military-style assault weapons in far too many American cities.”

The NRA responded immediately, saying these new measures give government bureaucrats power to “delay gun sales”:

GOP Rep Burgess Owens tried to warn Democrats, but they did not listen:

GOP Rep. Mary Miller of Illinois said that these new measures will not help keep communities safe.

“The idea that this is going to make us safer is laughable,” said Miller. “Criminals looking to get their hands on firearms to use in crimes are not going to submit to background checks. Only law-abiding citizens will follow the law. This is a back door means of setting up a national registry of firearms – something I completely oppose.

“The problem with gun violence is not that we don’t have enough gun laws,” Miller continued. “We have enough gun laws. What we need is to make sure the laws we have are enforced. Look at what happened in 2019 in Aurora when five people were shot and killed. The shooter had moved to Illinois from another state and because his background information was not updated – he was allowed to get a FOID card in Illinois and purchase firearms. Then when he applied for a conceal carry permit, his criminal background was discovered and his FOID card was revoked but his guns were never surrendered as required by law. If the gun laws had been enforced – a terrible tragedy could have been avoided. We need better enforcement – not more laws. Instead of passing terrible legislation like H.R. 8, we need to do a better job of providing law enforcement agencies with the resources they need to enforce existing gun laws.”
