During Friday’s sentencing hearing in the murder trial of Derek Chauvin, a very interesting scene unfolded as we got to see the former Minneapolis Police Officer give condolences to the family of George Floyd.
Various family members were given a chance to speak on their opinion of the sentence, but Chauvin was given the chance to speak for himself right before an afternoon court recess.
“Due to other legal matters, I cannot give a full formal statement at this time,” Chauvin began.
“But very briefly, I do want to give my condolences to the Floyd family. There’s going to be some other information in the future that would be of interest, and I hope things will give you some peace of mind,” Chauvin said.
Watch below:
We can only guess what “other information” Chauvin is referring to, but apparently we will find out soon enough.
Derek Chauvin declines to make a formal statement, but gives condolences to the Floyd family while promising forthcoming information that should be of "interest" to the family and give it "some comfort." Very interesting.
