While Democrats claim that President Donald Trump is an authoritarian who demands blind allegiance from people, the fact is they continually demonstrate that their party requires supporters to march in lockstep like good little Commies, or else suffer the consequences.

Earlier this month, a state Democratic lawmaker in Michigan had the temerity to publicly thank the president for talking up the potential benefits of long-user anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine to treat coronavirus.

Trump didn’t simply make up the drug or its potential benefits; he got it from learned scientists, researchers, and physicians who have done studies on the drug’s effectiveness at fighting COVID-19 with some success.

As such, state Rep. Karen Whitsett, D-Detroit asked her doctor to give her some when she contracted coronavirus. He did, and she not only recovered, but she thanked the president for recommending it because she believes it saved her life.

We reported at the time:

The Democratic lawmaker said she began feeling better in “less than two hours” after receiving her first dose of the drug. She said she had been suffering from shortness of breath — the key symptom of coronavirus infection — as well as swollen lymph nodes and what she said resembled a sinus infection.

Whitsett said she knew about “the wonders” of the drug after a previous bout with Lyme disease, but added she would never have thought to request it for coronavirus if she hadn’t heard the president talking about it. Nor, she said, would her doctor have prescribed it for that but for Trump’s insistence the FDA issue an emergency approval for limited use of the drug to treat COVID-19.

“It has a lot to do with the president … bringing it up,” Whitsett said. “He is the only person who has the power to make it a priority.”

Asked if she believes the president may have saved her life, she responded, “Yes, I do. I do thank him for that.”

Whitsett then went to the White House and met with President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence April 14 as part of a group of COVID-19 survivors, where she, again, thanked him for “everything” he has done in battling against the disease.

“I did not know that saying thank you had a political line. … I’m telling my story and my truth, and this how I feel and these are my words,” she said, according to The Detroit News.

Because of that, she’s now being punished by her party for daring to not only meet with Trump and members of his administration, but to praise him in public — as a Democrat.

The paper reported:

Detroit Democrats plan to vote to censure and bar any future endorsements of a Democratic lawmaker who credited President Donald Trump with advocating for the drug that she said cured her of COVID-19.

State Rep. Karen Whitsett, D-Detroit, broke protocol by meeting with President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence during an April 14 meeting of COVID-19 survivors, during which she credited hydroxychloroquine for saving her life, a Democratic district leader said.

‘Broke protocol?’

“At the end of the day, we have political systems,” party putz Jonathan Kinloch, chairman of the 13th Congressional District Democratic Party Organization, told the paper. “We have political parties, and political parties exist for a reason. They do not belong to themselves. They belong to the members and precinct delegates of the Democratic Party.”

Oh. Right. It’s all about ‘team’ and such.

But it isn’t, of course. Democrat ‘protocol’ is to rail in a perpetual and unhinged manner at all times against President Donald Trump. That’s the ‘protocol.’ And if you break it, the tyrannical Democratic Party leadership will break you.

Whitsett remains undaunted, however.

“I will continue to fight for the city of Detroit and the people in Detroit who need it the most, and that is the black community,” Whitsett said. “We’re the voiceless, and I don’t care who I got to go up against to do that.

“I’m a Democrat, and I plan on continuing to be a Democrat, but they will change their ways. I have my First Amendment right, and no one will take that away from me,” she added.

President Trump has a better idea, though, and we agree with him.
